Farm to Fork was started by John Ward, a chef who has lived and worked on the Mornington Peninsula for over 20 years.
In that time the Peninsula has changed and developed but one thing that has remained the same is the fantastic produce. The Peninsula has incredible farmers and primary producers making a huge range of products that are sort after by many establishments in the area wanting to promote and serve these products to not only the locals but the many visitors that come to the Peninsula .
As a Peninsula chef John’s preference is to use local produce but has often struggled to access it. When speaking to farmers it was evident, they struggled to both grow and deliver their produce.
With produce sought after across the Peninsula farmers can’t be in two places at once, so they have to compromise. Farmers ended up selling their produce to markets up in Melbourne only to find in back on the shelves of Peninsula grocery stores and restaurant tables.
This is not the best result for the farmers bottom line, the produce isn’t as fresh and the environment takes a hit as well.
So Farm To Fork was born……..a local food delivery service connecting Peninsula farmers and producers with Peninsula customers and consumers.
